Routine inspections are crucial for ensuring the long-term efficient operation of hydraulic excavators, especially for individual operators. Regular checks can significantly reduce maintenance costs.

First, walk around the machine twice to inspect its exterior and undercarriage for any abnormalities. Check for grease leakage from the slewing bearing. Then, check the bolts and fasteners on the deceleration brakes and tracks; tighten any loose bolts and replace any that need replacing. For wheeled excavators, check the tires for any abnormalities and the stability of the tire pressure.

Check the excavator's bucket teeth for significant wear. Worn bucket teeth greatly increase resistance during operation, severely impacting work efficiency and increasing wear on other parts.

Check the boom and hydraulic cylinders for cracks or leaks. Check the battery electrolyte level to ensure it is not below the low mark.

The air filter is a vital component that prevents large amounts of dusty air from entering the excavator and should be checked and cleaned regularly.

Frequently check the levels of fuel, lubricating oil, hydraulic oil, and coolant to see if they need to be topped up. It is best to use the fluids recommended in the manual and keep them clean.

Post-start checks:

1. Check the horn and all gauges for proper function.

2. Observe the engine's starting status, noise level, and exhaust color.

3. Check for leaks of engine oil, fuel, and coolant.
